Program Philosophy

At Amana Institute of New York, our ʿĀlimiyyah program is designed to cultivate not only scholarly excellence but also refined character and purposeful service. Our curriculum is rooted in the classical Islamic tradition, blending deep textual study with practical khidmah, spiritual development, and life balance.

Friday Focus: Prophetic Studies

Each Friday is devoted entirely to rigorous, immersive study of the Prophet ﷺ, encompassing:

  • Sīrah — his noble life and mission
  • Shamāʾil — his blessed characteristics and manners
  • Akhlāq al-Nabī ﷺ — his moral excellence and daily Sunnah practices
  • ʿIbādāt al-Nabī ﷺ — his acts of worship
  • Duʿāʾs of the Prophet ﷺ — his supplications and contexts
  • Dalāʾil al-Nubuwwah & Khaṣāʾiṣ — evidences of prophethood and the unique distinctions of the Prophet ﷺ

Who Should Apply

  • Sisters seeking rigorous, classical ʿĀlimiyyah with strong tarbiyah
  • Applicants with Qurʾān/Arabic reading fluency
  • Those with basic Islamic foundations
  • Learners needing prep may begin in Iʿdādiyyah

Prerequisites

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Fluency in Qurʾān/Arabic reading
  • Baseline tajwīd knowledge
  • Foundational fiqh/ʿaqīdah understanding
